Welcome to the worship tech journal

Have you ever finished a church service feeling like you were just working—but never actually worshiping?

If you’re involved in church production—whether it’s mixing sound, running ProPresenter, adjusting lights, or managing a live stream—you know how easy it is to get so focused on making everything run smoothly that you feel disconnected from the worship itself.

I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to be.

There has to be a way to balance both—the technical and the spiritual. To not just be working in the service but actually worshiping through what we do. That’s what I want to explore here, and that’s why I’m starting The Worship Tech Journal.

This isn’t a blog where I pretend to have all the answers. It’s a space for me to refine my thoughts, share what I’m learning, and figure out how church tech teams can move beyond just making things function to actually being part of the worship experience. Because at the end of the day, our role isn’t just about pressing buttons or setting levels—it’s about creating an atmosphere where people can encounter God while also engaging in worship ourselves.

If you’ve ever felt the same struggle—like you’re stuck behind a desk while everyone else is in the presence of God—let’s work through this together. I don’t have a perfect system, but I believe we can find ways to be fully engaged in worship while doing the work that makes it all happen.

Welcome to The Worship Tech Journal. Let’s explore this journey together.
